Palimpsest makes use of photographic grain. These are the tiny clumps of silver found in photographic negatives less than one micron in diameter and fundamental to pre-digital photography. Rather like snowflakes, these are unique, no two are alike. Here they are physically scrapped from a personal archive and reused to explore time, ageing and nostalgia. Palimpsest received the Genesis Imaging Bursary Award 2024.
